Your Church In The News

Other ways of getting free publicity

Your cake sale may not actually be front page material. It doesn’t matter. Try these free alternatives to sending a press release.

Use 'What's On' Guides

Nearly every local newspaper and radio station has a free events guide for charities. Use it. Use it. Use it! Here's an example from a Nottingham newspaper.

See more on how you can use 'What's On' guides.

Letter to the editor

Write a letter to your local paper – some say letters pages are the most read pages in a paper. Why not write a letter saying thankyou to everyone who helped with a successful event? Thousands will read about your event and your church as a result.

Use your building

Newport Elim
An effective billboard on a busy road
Many churches are blessed with prominent positions in their town or city with spires which are seen for miles around . Could you lead people to a website or offer a three word message?

The key with this type of publicity is to keep it simple - how many words can you read whilst driving past at 30 miles per hour?

Use your noticeboard

Advertising professionals make their billboards colourful, simple and use only a few carefully selected words. Why should a church noticeboard be any different if we want it to be noticed by large numbers of people? .
